Building Tomorrow Together

Italian American Future Leaders is a not-for-profit that’s building a nationwide collective of movers-and-shakers who can bridge the divide between older and younger Italian American generations.

In doing so, this new network of leaders will help promote our shared traditions, uphold our heritage and pursue a range of commercial, cultural, advocacy and event-based initiatives.

The inaugural 2023 Italian American Future Leaders Conference was attended by one of our own, Brooke Murrow. Read More

FEAST OF SAINT JOSEPH

The Feast of Saint Joseph is celebrated annually on March 19th.

The Italian-American Cultural Center of Iowa traditionally celebrates this beautiful feast day with a St. Joseph’s Altar.

This year, because of the unavailability of our facility due to imminent renovation, we are making plans to celebrate our event in a different manner.

COMMUNITY DONATION

IACC of Iowa is encouraging would-be attendees and all others to bring non-perishable food items or cash donations to the north parking lot of the Cultural Center, located at 2633 Fleur Drive, on Saturday, March 11th, from 10 am – 2 pm. Volunteers will be in the parking lot to collect donations for the food pantry, and all proceeds from cash donations will go to Catholic Worker House and St. Joseph Shelter. In addition, IAAC volunteers will prepare the traditional vegetable frittata to donate to Catholic Worker House and St. Joseph Shelter.

FAMILY OBSERVANCE

We would also like to suggest that family members gather together to prepare and share a meal. Because the feast of St. Joseph takes place during lent, one traditional dish is the vegetable frittata.

The Heritage Advisory Board has prepared a booklet for families who would like to observe the feast together, including a brief history of the St. Joseph Altar Celebration. Also included is a recipe for vegetable frittata as well as recipes for traditional cookies that the Center bakes each year.

Copies of the booklet may be picked up when donations are made or ordered online by sending your request to civitate@iaccofia.org
